Check your master before release

A strong master is more than a single target. Compare balance, dynamics, true peak and the character of your original track before choosing the final result.

Measurements are guides, not finish lines. Use A/B listening to choose a balance that works for release and everyday playback.

01

Review the original

Check LUFS and dynamics to understand how much processing the track actually needs.

02

Check peak headroom

Review true peak so the result stays reliable after saving or format conversion.

03

Listen with A/B comparison

More important than a number is whether the character and balance of the original remain natural.

04

Prepare the final file

Save WAV, FLAC, AIFF or MP3 for listening, archiving or release delivery.

FAQ

Can I use Waveroom without audio knowledge?+

Yes. Choose a WAV or MP3 file, pick a mastering direction, then compare the source and result with A/B playback.

What is recommended for older mobile devices?+

Mastering and vocal separation temporarily use your browser's device memory. Use a current Safari or Chrome version, keep the tab open, and close other audio tabs or apps first. On older mobile devices, shorter files or a recent tablet or desktop provide a more reliable result.

Which file gives the best result?+

WAV is recommended, but MP3 is supported. A source that is not clipping or heavily limited gives the mastering process more room to work naturally.

How should I use A/B comparison?+

Switch between the source and result at the same playback point. Listen for a natural vocal, clear low end, smooth high end and preserved punch—not just extra volume.

Why can the result sound different from my original?+

Every track is analysed and adjusted only where needed. If the change feels too strong, audition another preset and choose the version that keeps your track’s character.

Why use adaptive resonance control?+

A frequency that briefly stands out can make low mids feel crowded or high frequencies feel harsh. Waveroom scans the full spectrum and gently eases only resonances that stand out from their neighbouring bands.

Can I use mastering and vocal removal on a phone?+

Yes. Both start in a mobile browser without an installation. Vocal separation depends on the original mix, effects and overlap between instruments and vocals.

Which files and track lengths can I use?+

WAV, MP3, FLAC and AIFF are supported up to 200 MB. There is no separate fixed track-length limit; choose a file size that your browser and device can handle comfortably.

What is recommended for mobile browsers and Safari?+

Use a current Safari or mobile browser version, keep the tab open while processing, and start with one track at a time. If a file will not load, try the original WAV or MP3 again after closing other audio-heavy tabs or apps.

Can I download another format after mastering?+

Yes. After a master is ready, choose WAV, FLAC, AIFF or MP3 and create another download. Changing output format or bit depth for the same master does not use another mastering credit.

How do free masters, a 10-track pass and Pro differ?+

New accounts include 1 free master. Previously granted free allowances are preserved. A 10-track pass uses one credit per completed master and does not expire. Pro members can master without a per-track credit while their membership is active.

What if processing or download does not work?+

First retry with a supported source file. For duplicate charges, a confirmed technical failure, or a result that differs from the service terms, contact support so the request can be reviewed under the refund policy.

What can I do if the page feels slow or playback stutters?+

Try closing other browser tabs and music or video apps, then work on one track at a time. While fine-tuning, switching to EASY may reduce the display workload. Keep your browser up to date, and let the device cool down if it feels hot. Older phones and tablets may struggle with live audio and graphs running together. Stuttering in the preview does not necessarily mean the saved file has the same problem; check the downloaded file in a separate audio player.

Why is mastering taking a long time, or appearing to stop?+

Waveroom processes audio mainly in your device’s browser. Longer tracks, higher sample rates and multiple tracks take more work; device performance and available memory also matter. Progress may pause while processing continues, so give it time rather than repeatedly pressing the button. Keep the tab visible and avoid locking the screen or switching apps. If there is still no progress after a long wait, download any finished files before retrying a single track. Refreshing may discard your current work. If it keeps happening, contact support with your device, OS and browser versions, file format, duration and size, and the step where it stopped.
